The F-150 gets a bigger EcoBoost base engine, while Ford expands V8 availability and adds a new Carhartt package for 2027.

The next Ford F-150 is still a few years out. But before Ford’s newest F-150 arrives, the Blue Oval is giving its popular pickup truck a few key updates for 2027.

Most importantly, the 2027 Ford F-150 debuts with a new base engine: a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6. It replaces the former 2.7-liter engine, sharing the same core architecture, while making the same 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. According to chief program engineer Kelly Kohlstrand, the larger engine “gives you a little bit of a better everyday driving experience.”

2027 Ford F-150 Lariat

Apart from the fresh base engine, the big news is that Ford has also expanded the availability of the 400-hp 5.0-liter V8. It’s now available on the King Ranch and Platinum trims for 2027, meaning it’s offered across the entire F-150 lineup, from XL to Platinum.

The rest of the powertrain lineup carries over, with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and 3.5-liter PowerBoost hybrid, which continues to make 425 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. The 2027 Ford F-150 Raptor will continue to pack the high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost and supercharged 5.2-liter V8 in the Raptor R.

Ford also gives the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum models newly designed grilles and wheels. They now feature a new split-bar design that’s wider than on the outgoing truck, a design element reflected in the new wheel designs.

2027 Ford F-150 Carhartt

Earlier this year, Ford partnered with Carhartt for a special package on the Super Duty. The two have expanded their collaboration with the 2027 F-150 Carhartt.

The $4,195 Carhartt Package is available on the 4×4 XLT Crew Cab models and adds several unique visual cues that tie it to the Super Duty. On the outside, the truck receives unique anodized wheels and trim, unique Carhartt graphics, and a branded, spray-in bedliner.

Inside, the F-150 Carhartt features a two-tone interior with neat seats embroidered with the clothing company’s logo, which is also on the rear map pockets. The steering wheel and door panels get unique accent stitching. The only place where the full, color Carhartt logo is visible is on the engine.

You can order your 2027 Ford F-150 Carhartt today, with deliveries expected to start early next year. The truck will have a $62,660 starting price, plus destination, which is $2,795 for 2026. If that stays the same, the 2027 F-150 Carhartt will start at $65,455.

When the 2027 Ford F-150 goes on sale, it will start at $40,585, including the $2,795 destination charge. That will get you the rear-wheel-drive, entry-level F-1540 XL Regular Cab, which is now $500 more than before.

We expect a complete pricing breakdown ahead of the truck going on sale.

Motor1’s Take: With the next-generation F-150 right around the corner, Ford isn’t making any huge changes to the pickup truck. The updated styling, bigger base engine, and expanding availability of the 5.0-liter V8 help the truck stay competitive against the all-new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Ram’s embrace of the Hemi.
