US buyers get the updated 2027 Mercedes-Benz G 580 Electric with dual charging ports, a 249-mile EPA range, and a $165,200 starting price.

Mercedes-Benz has opened US order books for the 2027 G 580 Electric, and the sticker price climbed to $165,200 with destination included. That is the news dealers are processing this week, but the bigger story sits under the charging door.

The 2027 G-Class EV swaps its old single-port setup for two separate connectors, cuts DC charging time, and posts a longer EPA range. Buyers configuring orders now see all three changes reflected in the online build tool.

2025 Mercedes G580 with EQ Technology

The 2027 G 580 Electric starts at $163,750 before a $1,450 destination charge, landing at $165,200 out the door. That is up from $164,550 the prior year, a modest increase given the hardware changes underneath.

Mercedes-Benz has not touched the mechanical package. Four electric motors still combine for 579 horsepower (432 kW) and 858 lb-ft of torque, with the G-Class EV hitting 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and topping out at 112 mph, matching last year’s figures.

Sales have been slow next to the gas-powered G-Class. Mercedes had moved roughly 1,450 electric G 580s worldwide by the end of April 2025, against about 9,700 combustion G-Class models over the same period, and the brand doubled its customer discount on the EV from 5 percent to 10 percent last November.

That gap has not scared Mercedes off the electric G-Class, which sits in the same showroom lineup as the 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 and other flagship SUVs the brand is refreshing this cycle. The 2027 changes read as an attempt to close that sales gap with real functional upgrades rather than another price cut.

The key update sits behind a single charging-door cover with a NACS port for DC fast charging alongside a separate J1772 port for Level 2 AC charging, replacing the outgoing CCS1 inlet. Buyers plug into Tesla‘s Supercharger network directly, no adapter required.

Mercedes lists a 10-to-80-percent DC charging time of 29 minutes, down from 32 minutes on the previous model year. Peak DC power stays capped at 200 kW, and the onboard AC charger tops out at 9.6 kW for home or Level 2 public charging.

The battery capacity is 117 kWh, with an estimated 240-volt home charging time of 13.6 hours for a full charge. The EPA now rates the 2027 G 580 Electric at 71 MPGe, up from 62 MPGe, with combined range rising to 249 miles from 239 miles.

Shoppers cross-referencing the electric G-Class against Mercedes’ broader SUV range might also look at the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLE for a gas-powered alternative. One dealer listing already shows a configured 2027 G 580 e at $187,650, well above the base sticker once options get added.

The 2027 G 580 Electric now pairs its existing performance with quicker DC stops, easier access to the Supercharger network, and a modest price hike. The upgrade keeps the electric G-Class in play for shoppers who want the familiar boxy shape with a quieter, all-electric drivetrain.
