An AutoZone shopper says he discovered a major money-saving hack: get your hands on a commercial account number. He says he was able to buy a fuel pump for a fraction of the listed price.
“All right because I’m always look out for y’all. This fuel pump was $112 before taxes at AutoZone,” Trevor Gross (@dacheezit) says in a recent TikTok.
“Put it on their commercial account, this guy has his commercial account and information posted on Facebook. Because the more you spend, the more money he saves. So he wants everybody to spend on his account,” he explains.
Gross says the discount came to nearly half off. “It was $64.90,” he says.
Gross shows a screenshot of the Facebook post. It includes the purported AutoZone commercial account number and a message from the account holder. The post by Auto Parts Angel says, “Half Price automotive. The more I buy, the bigger the discounts, so use it and you can usually get a decent discount on items. Soon will have dealers setup as well, only working with Chevy now. Hope it helps you.”
One person who commented on his post wrote: “Works. Thanks a lot bro …. Forever blessed.”
Multiple commenters confirmed that using corporate discount codes is a foolproof way to save cash, even if you aren’t affiliated with the company. “Dude, Sherwin Williams is like this. I went in for a gallon of paint and was quoted 70$. She asked if I have a painting account. I said no but my painter does. She asked for his phone number. Price went down to $24! I couldn’t believe it,” one said.
Someone else said that this communal corporate code discount protocol is common practice in the auto repair business. “I work at Advance Auto and there’s a few pro accounts that basically everyone uses. It’s very common in this industry,” they said.
Another person who claimed to be an Advance Auto Parts employee said that any business owner can get a commercial account, even if they don’t work in automotives. “You can sign up for a commercial account even if your business isn’t vehicle related, as long as you have a tax number you’re good,” they said.
Someone else commented to confirm the efficacy of using AutoZone commercial codes for discounts. They provided a purchase order receipt for a CV Axle and wrote, “Can confirm. Just bought a $232 CV Axle for $119 today.”
Someone else who replied to Gross’s video said that there is one drawback to using a commercial account number: any warranty claims have to be placed through the commercial account in question. “But then the warranty would be tied to [the commercial] account,” one opined.
Gross confirmed in his own response that this is the case. However, others said that if buyers ever need to file a warranty claim, all they’d need to do is simply provide the commercial account number.
“I use my dad’s commercial account and I’ve had to warranty parts that I bought from the account. You can just give them the account number and they can find the warranty for it,” one wrote. “They don’t require a receipt because the commercial account keeps a receipt of every item you buy from them. My dad has like 70 pages worth of receipts.”
While it may be tempting to share commercial account numbers, be aware that it may run afoul of AutoZone’s policies.
On its website, AutoZone notes that there are restrictions for commercial account holders. The site says that an AutoZonePro account can be suspended or banned if account details are shared with unauthorized individuals.
“Sharing, disclosing, or transferring login credentials to any third party, including competitors, vendors, or other non-authorized individuals is a misuse of AutoZone’s confidential and proprietary information and may result in immediate loss of access to the portal, termination of the customer’s commercial account, and litigation,” the company writes.
When it comes to buy-more-save-more eligibility, AutoZone confirms this is an incentive in becoming a Pro buyer. As per the retailer, its “pricing program [is] designed to help increase profits by saving more when [they] buy more.”
There are other tiered promotional purchasing programs available at AutoZone. These include its NIADA member partnership with a focus on volume buy benefits, monthly deals for commercial buyers, and national accounts support.
As for warranties, AutoZone also says on its website that claims made on commercial account purchases are instantly linked to said profile: “When you purchase a part … covered by AutoZone warranty, your … information is automatically entered into AutoZone’s …. database,” the business writes.
