The S-Class, Maybach, and AMG sedans will get new front brake hoses installed for free.
Mercedes-Benz is recalling 30,064 cars in the US because a front brake hose can weaken, leak, and potentially rupture. The expanded campaign covers certain S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, and Mercedes-AMG sedans built between February 2021 and late November 2024, corresponding to the 2022 through 2025 model years.
The automaker says it is not aware of any crashes, injuries, or property damage tied to the defect. Dealers will replace the affected hose for free, and owner notification letters go out November 27, 2026.

NHTSA recall 26V638 breaks the 30,064 vehicles down by model and trim. The S580 4Matic accounts for the bulk of it at 16,881 units, followed by 7,143 S500 4Matic sedans and 2,277 S580 e 4Matic plug-in hybrids.
The rest of the population splits across Mercedes’s highest-end nameplates: 1,746 AMG S63 E Performance sedans, 1,070 Maybach S680 4Matic cars, and 947 Maybach S580 4Matic sedans. Mercedes-Benz first opened a related campaign back in February 2025, then expanded it after more reports came in.
The public NHTSA record for this campaign states that the front brake hoses may rupture and leak brake fluid, but it does not list individual incident reports, supplier names, or a part number for the component involved.
Mercedes-Benz corrected the hose in production starting in late November 2024, which is why the recall window closes on vehicles built through November 28, 2024. Cars built after that date carry the revised hose design and fall outside the affected population.

Heat and mechanical stress over time can weaken the front brake hose material, according to the NHTSA filing. That weakening can progress to a rupture, which lets brake fluid escape from the line feeding the front calipers.
A leak on one or both front corners reduces hydraulic pressure at the wheels, which in practice means a longer stopping distance. The agency’s filing notes there is typically no warning before a hose fails, though a red brake fluid warning light may appear on the dashboard once fluid loss has already started.
Owners of affected S-Class, Maybach, and AMG sedans can expect a letter by November 27, and authorized dealers will swap in the corrected hose at no charge.
