“Do you know how to put it in park?”
Jackie’s fiancé had just taken delivery of a new Ferrari, and she had an idea. He needed someone to pick him up, and the Ferrari was available, so why not give him a surprise in his shiny, new car?
“I don’t know if he’s gonna be mad or not, but we’re doing it,” Jackie (@jackie.pads) tells viewers in a TikTok video that’s been viewed more than 847,000 times.
She climbs inside, admires the interior, and immediately addresses one of the most pressing questions about driving a Ferrari: Will it accommodate her Stanley cup?
The oversized cup fit OK, but another feature proved considerably more challenging.
Jackie appears to have spent about two seconds getting acquainted with the Ferrari Purosangue and is already on her way to collect her fiancé when she realizes she has no idea how to get the music working.
“Maybe if we got a red light, we could try,” she says before throwing in the towel on listening to some tunes. “I think this is the kind of car where you just have to listen to the engine or something.”
As engines go, most others would likely provide a far lesser listening experience. The Purosangue has a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 producing 715 horsepower, enough to propel the four-door Ferrari to 60 mph in roughly 3.2 seconds. With a starting price exceeding $420,000 and an options list capable of pushing the total well beyond $500,000, it’s a helluva machine to take for an ordinary pickup.
But Jackie has discovered one of its more frustrating characteristics. In Motor1’s review of the Purosangue, we described the infotainment system as “infuriating to use,” criticizing its finicky touch-sensitive controls and unconventional layout.
So Jackie isn’t alone in struggling with the stereo. Even professional reviewers have had trouble with it.
But at least she got the cupholders to work.
As she approached the pickup destination, Jackie knows she’s playing with fire, admitting, “He’s gonna kill me,” as she arrived.
He apparently doesn’t recognize his own Ferrari at first. In a TikTok comment, Jackie explained that he saw the car approaching and remarked, “Wow someone else has my color?!”
Then the salesman standing with him offered a correction: “I think that’s Jackie.”
That realization leads to a considerably less enthusiastic reception than she might have hoped.
“You can’t be driving this,” her fiancé tells her. “Do you know how to put it in park?”
“Well, my foot’s still on the brake,” Jackie admits with an attempt at humor.
By that point he’d heard enough, declaring “All right, I’m going to drive it home.”
The clip inspired plenty of reactions from viewers, many of whom seemed almost as protective of the Ferrari as its owner.
“You leave that damn Stanley home next time,” one commenter admonished.
Others were similarly horrified by the possibility of a large metal tumbler bouncing around the interior of an expensive new car. Some jumped in to defend Jackie, noting, “It has cupholders for a reason.”
Some viewers raised a more serious concern: Jackie was apparently recording herself while driving an unfamiliar, extremely powerful vehicle. Another observer dinged her for traveling at 59 mph in a 45-mph zone in a car she was almost completely unfamiliar with.
The concern about distraction is legitimate regardless of the Ferrari’s price. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that 3,208 people died in crashes involving distracted drivers in 2024. Operating a phone or adjusting entertainment controls can both divert attention from the road.
Understandably, Jackie’s fiancé seemed most concerned with getting his brand new luxury car home in one piece. We also have to assume the fiancé coached her how to put the car in park so she could switch to the passenger seat, allowing im to settle in behind the wheel.
Motor1 reached out to Jackie via direct message and comment on the clip. We’ll update this story if she responds.
