Kia sold 72,703 vehicles last month—2,102 fewer than in April 2025. But EV sales were actually up.

Kia sales dipped a bit in April, with the automaker selling just 72,703 vehicles. That’s not a huge drop, but it is down from 74,805 vehicles the company sold a year ago. Though, it’s not all bad news.

The Kia Telluride continues to sell well, with sales for the three-row SUV up 16 percent last month. The Sportage remains Kia’s best-selling vehicle despite selling fewer units. K4, K5, and Seltos sales also increased last month.

According to the automaker, hybrid sales increased by 97 percent in April, with Sportage and Sorento hybrid sales rising by 112 percent and 34 percent, respectively. That’s not a surprise with current gas prices, which might have even helped Kia’s fully electric vehicles last month, too.

Sales for the EV6 jumped 11 percent and 481 percent for the three-row EV9, but they are still just a small fraction. The automaker sold just over 2,000 EVs in April.

Motor1’s Take: Despite American consumers shunning fully electric vehicles, hybrids are as popular as ever, and Kia offers several electrified models. So far this year, Kia sales are still up, with the automaker selling about 6,000 more vehicles through the first four months of 2026 than in the same period last year.
