The Passport TrailSport has a revised suspension that increases its ride height and off-road capability.
Ever since Honda redesigned the Passport for 2026, the crossover and its rugged TrailSport trim have been incredibly popular. The off-road-oriented spec accounts for over 80 percent of the model’s sales, and the automaker is enhancing its capability for 2027 with serious upgrades to the suspension and chassis.
Honda redesigned nearly 70 percent of the TrailSport’s suspension components to accommodate the crossover’s increased ride height. It has new springs, dampers, control arms, and knuckles. Engineers also revised the front drive shafts and front subframe, tweaking 28 different parts.
The TrailSport now has 9.65 inches of ground clearance, up 1.38 inches. It beats several key competitors, including the Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road (9.1 inches), Subaru Outback Wilderness (9.5 inches), and Ford Bronco Sport Badlands Sasquatch (8.7 inches).
The extra height also improves the Passport’s approach, departure, and breakover angles by 2.0 to 3.0 degrees.
In addition to the hardware upgrades, Honda also updated the TrailSport’s appearance. The crossover now has more pronounced fender flares, new amber LED hood scoop lights, and a restyled lower front fascia.
The available Blackout Package now has black front and rear fascias. The pack also includes black Honda badges and black 18-inch wheels. Every Passport is now available in Smoke Blue Pearl, first introduced on the 2026 Pilot. It replaces Obsidian Blue Pearl.

Inside, Honda makes the heated steering wheel standard. All TrailSport models also come with Honda’s TrailWatch camera system, which provides four exterior views with graphics that indicate tire placement.
Under the hood is Honda’s naturally aspirated 3.5-liter J35Y8 V6 engine. It produces 285 horsepower and pairs with Honda’s 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The updated Passport TrailSport will begin reaching dealers later this month. Honda has not announced pricing, but the 2026 TrailSport starts at $50,145, including the $1,495 destination charge.
We expect Honda to release the crossover’s official pricing information closer to its on-sale date in a few weeks. The price could tick upward with the improved off-road hardware.
