“I think Amazon owes me a gift card.”

A Toyota 4Runner driver believes Amazon owes him a gift card for rescuing an Amazon truck stuck in a ditch.

In a TikTok, the Toyota 4Runner driver is seen towing a massive Amazon 18-wheeler truck from the side of the road on a cold, snowy day. The TikTok posted by Aiden (@aidantgr) went massively viral. As of this writing, it has over 4.4 million views.

An unexpected snowstorm hit, leaving the Amazon truck stuck on the side of the road. Luckily for the driver, Aiden came to the rescue in his 4Runner.

Aiden grabbed his towing strap and hooked up to the Amazon truck. What happened next was truly shocking. The 1997 3rd-gen 4Runner pulled the 18-wheeler back onto the snowy road.

“Oh my god,” the cameraman says upon seeing the truck make its way back onto the road.

“I think Amazon owes me a gift card,” on-screen text adds.

“I saved you a couple hundred package delays. And yes I did get him out of the ditch and all the way up the street to where he could park safe,” Aiden captions the post.

Aiden told Motor1, “The driver unfortunately didn’t speak English but was overwhelmingly grateful for the support as the storm came out of nowhere. I did this good deed not expecting anything in return but rather out of appreciation for everything truck drivers endure and it was quite a surprise to me seeing this video gain such traction.”

Many viewers suggested that the TikTok is a great advertising opportunity for Toyota.

“Lowkey this is a great advertisement for Toyota,” one person wrote.

“I think Toyota owes you one, too,” another shared.

“When Amazon can’t deliver, Toyota can. ‘Toyota, let’s go places,’” a third commented.

“Just made Amazon and Toyota their Super Bowl ad,” a fourth suggested.

Other commenters were hoping to see Amazon or Toyota to weigh in

“Me looking for Toyota or Amazon in the comments,” said one.

“Coffee anyone? While we wait for Toyota or Amazon to enter the chat,” another joked.

In the end, Toyota did respond.

“Same-day shipping with 4Runner,” the company wrote from its verified account.

Aiden took the opportunity to shoot his shot.

“Aw c’mon I know you wanna make an ad together,” he responded.

In recent years, it’s become both a trend and a marketing strategy for brands to act as one with consumers. This has become an underrated marketing strategy if done right with thoughtful, humorous, and calculated comments.

According to Marketing Brew, brands that make insightful comments can directly engage customers while establishing relevance and positive brand sentiment.

So when a post like Aiden’s goes viral, the audience almost expects the brand to address the situation in the comment section. When Toyota took the opportunity to comment, “same-day shipping with 4Runner” on Aiden’s post, it was well received with over 49,000 likes.

However, Amazon has been silent on the situation.

Aiden told Motor1, “Amazon never reached out, unfortunately.”

Motor1 has contacted Amazon via email and will update the story if it replies.
