In a TikTok with over 574,500 views as of this writing, Donovan (@donovandrives) reveals the money-saving tip that “feels illegal to know.”
“If you need a part for your car and need to save a little money on it,” Donovan begins, “go ahead and go to Google. Type in your manufacturer name plus ‘parts catalogue.’ Go to that website, find the part you need for your make and model year car on there,” Donovan says.
After putting in this information, the car part should populate from the search.
“[The product description] will have a SKU number or a part number. Go ahead and copy that and paste it into Amazon,” he continues.
Once the SKU number has been pasted into Amazon, a potential new discounted price is available.
“See what that does for the price. Hope that helps,” he concludes.
Viewers in the comments section confirmed the money-saving tip and were grateful for Donovan sharing this Amazon hack.
“Wait…. A car salesman that’s saving me money!? My man,” one TikTok commenter wrote.
“My daughter just did this then had a mobile mechanic come and change her brake pads. Saved $800,” a second shared.
However, not everyone was completely sold on using Amazon for car parts and suggested using RockAuto instead.
“RockAuto is my go to,” one commented.
“Don’t trust Amazon parts. use RockAuto instead. You’re getting parts straight from the manufacturer with great prices,” a second added.
“Rock auto is way better,” a third wrote.
“Amazon parts fail often! Be careful,” another shared.
“I would definitely recommend doing it with parts that don’t go in the engine,” Donovan replied.
Other viewers gave additional destinations to buy car parts.
“You can also go to eBay,” one added.
“If you don’t need new, just grab it from the junkyard,” another suggested.
Amazon has dominated the e-commerce space and essentially sells anything a consumer needs. Whatever you can think of, Amazon will most likely have an option to buy it. You can even buy a Hyundai or a certified pre-owned Ford on Amazon.
