The new Cherokee Trailhawk gains a two-speed transfer case, 9.0 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and more.
The new 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk isn’t just a Cherokee with fancy badges and extra black plastic. Jeep fitted its compact SUV with a serious off-road kit, including goodies like a two-speed transfer case, a locking rear axle, increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and more.
And yet, the Trailhawk doesn’t stray far from its Cherokee roots. It keeps the compact SUV’s hybrid powertrain intact, which means it’s still ultra-efficient, and it’s loaded with enough comfort and technology to keep the family happy over long overlanding trips.
Orders are open now, with the 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk starting at $44,625, including the $1,995 destination charge.
2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
The Cherokee Trailhawk more than earns its Trail Rated badge, according to Jeep. It has best-in-class approach, departure, and breakover angles, along with the only 24-inch water-fording rating in its class.
Under the hood is the standard Cherokee’s turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, producing 210 horsepower. Jeep estimates 31 miles per gallon combined, giving the Trailhawk much better fuel economy than some of its bigger, brawnier siblings.
Here are the key numbers:
The suspension gets unique spring and damper tuning in addition to the lift, and Jeep says the changes improve the Cherokee’s Ramp Travel Index by 45 points compared with other Cherokee models.
The Trailhawk’s off-road cred goes beyond suspension tuning and aggressive bumpers, though. The SUV also gets Jeep’s Active Drive II 4×4 system with Lock Mode and a two-speed power transfer unit. In fact, it’s the only off-road SUV in the class to offer one.
Five drive modes come standard:
Steel skid plates protect the front axle, wiring, and fuel tank, while Jeep also adds extra protection for the hybrid battery.
Jeep made sure the Trailhawk looks tougher than its standard Cherokee sibling with a unique front fascia featuring a gloss-black upper portion. Red tow hooks are mounted at both ends of the bumper, while a Trailhawk hood graphic helps reduce glare. The Trailhawk rides on one of two unique 17-inch wheel options wrapped in 245/65R17 Nexen Rodian ATX all-terrain tires.
Inside, the Trailhawk gets Mantis Green upholstery with red stitching and embossed Trailhawk logos. There’s also an aluminum finish around the shift dial and a red bezel detail around the transmission dial.
The Trailhawk also comes loaded with technology like a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen. They run the automaker’s latest UConnect infotainment system, with a few off-road-specific features baked in.
The 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk starts at $44,625, including destination. Jeep also offers three optional packages on the Cherokee Trailhawk for buyers who want even more equipment—for a price.
The Sun and Sound Package adds a dual-pane sunroof and premium Alpine audio system. The Trailering Package adds equipment for towing up to 3,500 pounds, while the Advanced Pro Tech Group includes ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, front and rear camera washers, and a 360-degree camera system.
Production of the 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk starts later this year at Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Complex in Mexico. Jeep is taking orders now.
